In-Situ is a not-for-profit arts organisation based in Brierfield, Pendle. It was founded in 2011 by Paul Hartley, Kerry Morrison and William Titley who were inspired by a desire to help bring art into the colourful existing cultures in Pendle. Paul and William were born and bred here and continue to live here.
Liberata Architects were commissioned to provide lead architectural design and landscape services for this quirky studio scheme and have worked with In-situ to support their successful application for Arts Council funding.
Their new space was formerly an old garage building and part of the Grade 2 listed Brierfield Mill complex; which forms part of the masterplan for the Northlight redevelopment.
The building now features, a new first floor pod to the roof to accommodate two bedrooms and facilities for visiting artists in residence, along with an event space, pop-up cinema, art library and community garden.
